Trees

I’m drawn to trees in all their forms—from solitary urban survivors to coast redwood giants that dominate the forest. In them, I see strength and endurance, longevity and quiet support. They’re the backbone of their ecosystems, sometimes demure, sometimes dominant, but always full of potential.

I think of trees as the stately grandparents of the forest, wise and generous. In my eyes, all trees possess remarkable strength. But it’s the coast redwoods I return to most often—they’re easily my favorite. Standing before the large ones, I’m dwarfed by their presence. They humble me. I can barely contemplate all they’ve witnessed across their centuries on this planet.

These photographs are my attempt to honor trees, to capture something of what I feel in their presence. I want to create expressive images that convey the awe and admiration I experience—images that might evoke an emotional response in you as well, a recognition of these patient beings who have so much to teach us about resilience, community, and time.
